Frank's Vision
A Legacy of Hospitality and Passion for Golf.
Frank Hargreaves, the inspiration behind Mytton Fold Golf Club, was a dedicated farmer who worked these fields with his livestock for many years. After tragedy struck and his herd was lost, Frank and his wife Lilian began a new chapter. Lilian started a bed and breakfast from their farmhouse, and together they transformed the derelict farm buildings into what became the renowned Mytton Fold Hotel.
As the hotel flourished, earning a strong reputation for its warm hospitality, the surrounding fields remained unused. Frank, having taken up golf for recreation, envisioned a new purpose for the land. With years of walking the terrain, he instinctively knew the ideal spots for water hazards, trees, and ponds—designing the course to flow naturally with the existing landscape.
In 1994, Mytton Fold Golf Club officially opened, with football legend Kenny Dalglish (Liverpool, Blackburn, and Scotland) inaugurating the course. Since then, the club has enjoyed a vibrant and competitive membership that values serious golf and a lively social calendar.
Continuous investment ensures the course maintains its high standards. A fleet of golf buggies and all-weather buggy paths keep the course accessible year-round.
